I don't believe there would be a restriction on where you live, only where you order from. The country search in Metalback has to do with retailer location is my understanding.

Restriction would be if you can order from a listed overseas retailer, and if it can be delivered to you / the cost to do so.

Here’s my rewardengine email confirmation of the Pet Store purchase that I posted yesterday. The reward figure of $7.13 is higher than I expected. As Dante posted in another thread, Kinesis and intermediaries might all take an extra cut of this than just the MFP and myself. This is all very interesting.

The Approximate Reward figure in my email came to 4% of the total fee (ex GST). This might mean two things, which I’m not sure how it breaks down:
  1. The 1% MetalBack figure for PetBarn is wrong and should be 2%.
  2. Maybe 1% goes to me, 1% to MFP, 1% to Kinesis and 1% to Intermediary.
  3. Something else??
I guess No.1???

I believe the approx reward figure in the email is your % cut. Kinesis' etc isn't visible to you.

It’s nice to get 4% instead of 1%. However, I suppose this means that there’s quite a lot of variation from the percentages listed.

I live in the Republic of Georgia on the Black Sea. It is a free, peaceful, low-crime, and rapidly-progressing country with excellent banking which is no threat to any other country. But I have never been able to get a Kinesis debit card (even virtual) here, after trying for several years. Can someone tell me if any portion of this Metalback program is available to me now, and how to get set up for it? I have bank cards from Georgia and several other countries. I routinely order merchandise and services from other countries for shipment here, often through freight-forwarders.
Dante has provided the answer.

However, here's one twist that you may come across.
ebay operates internationally.
It's listed under Australia, but not under the UK.
The following text is included in the detail for the Australia, ebay listing:
Due to geo-targeting, you must make all purchases on eBay Australia whilst based in Australia.

So, you might find for certain merchants, that Metalback is restricted to the country that they list under.

QUESTION: What does the 'US' designation next to some of the vendors such as Booking.com US or Auto Europe US indicate?
Booking.com US is going to be the US subsidiary of booking.com.
Similarly, when searching for ebay after selecting Australia as the country, ebay Australia is shown.
In the case of ebay Australia, the geo-targeting text shown in post #68 occurs, but I don't see anything similar for Booking.com US.

booking.com isn't listed for the UK.
However, being based in the UK, I seem to be able to select booking.com US (under the country USA) and query their listed products.
There's no suggestion that I wouldn't get Metalback if I proceeded with an order.

I bought some socks from sock shop on Saturday and haven’t had an email confirmation
There seems to be some variability in how long this takes.
I have two purchases initiated on Thursday, which I finalised by collecting the items on Friday, but haven't had confirmations yet.
Some have had much quicker confirmations.

Wondering what happens if one clears their cookies regularly. Will the Metalback program still recognize an IP Address? If that is the case, what if one utilizes a VPN? I'm kind of a Luddite so appreciate any assistance.

Dante, thanks for your reply. I hope you are right. I will give it a try if I find something of use to buy.

My small purchase generated $7.13 AUD of KAU for the MFP. I calculated that I would have had to trade $3240 at 0.22% on the exchange to generate the equivalent fees for the MFP.
We might still have to be patient while adoption of this occurs, but the mathematical power of this is substantial. There’ll be so many spin offs like people saving in gold for the first time in their lives by virtue of accumulating rewards from online shopping. It might spur them on to convert their fiat to KAU once they see how good it is.
