Development Bank for Resilient Prosperity (DBRP) partners with Kinesis

Today, the Development Bank for Resilient Prosperity (DBRP), a dynamic and outcomes-driven multilateral development bank with a global scope, announced key partnerships with Kinesis, The University of the West Indies (UWI), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), and the PVBLIC Foundation at an event held in Kingston, Jamaica at the Headquarters of the University of the West Indies.

The DBRP is initially focused on supporting Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and empowering developing nations to leverage real-world natural assets to improve access to development financing, while providing innovative solutions to drive sustainable growth and resilience.

The event featured distinguished speakers including:

  • Mr Thomas Coughlin, CEO of Kinesis
  • Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice-Chancellor of The University of the West Indies
  • The Most Hon. P.J. Patterson, Former Prime Minister of Jamaica and UWI Statesman-in-Residence
  • H.E Dr. Didacus Jules, Director-General of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States
  • H.E. Aubrey Webson, Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations
  • Mr Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, Executive Chairman of PVBLIC Foundation
  • Dr. Gene Leon, Executive Director of DBRP
The launch event highlighted the magnitude of challenges faced by SIDS and presented innovative solutions for building resilient prosperity in developing nations. Dr Nekeisha Spencer, Senior Lecturer at UWI’s Department of Economics, shared key insights on the challenges facing SIDS, while the event was moderated by Professor David Tennant, Professor of Development Finance at UWI.

The DBRP represents a significant step forward in addressing the unique development challenges faced by Small Island Developing States (SIDS), combining traditional development finance approaches with innovative solutions to build lasting resilience and prosperity.

Interesting.

empowering developing nations to leverage real-world natural assets to improve access to development financing
Sounds like there could be some overlap with what was mentioned in Vaultside episode 4:

we've done a tremendous amount of development in the real world asset space
...
For me, gold is the most perfect currency, but we've developed something really innovative to capture asset price movements and to maintain purchasing power within a basket of asset prices.

It's highly unique. What we'll be introducing is beyond anything else out there in the market, and no one else can do it. I say that with confidence because different things that we've incorporated, there's patents and exclusivity and things like that in play that no one else can get access to.

combining traditional development finance approaches with innovative solutions to build lasting resilience and prosperity.

and from episode 2:
I may have alluded to it previously. It's a very creative product. It is in the asset backed digital currency space, but it's new, it's innovative, it's creative, it's evolutionary as opposed to revolutionary.

I would say it's taking the step up to the next level. We are evolving. And it's highly unique. It's something that I really have firm conviction will change the world and change the world for the better.

It will serve humanity in the way that it should and it's going to bring online a lot of value not only into the Kinesis system but into the monetary space.

Looks to be an exciting step forward in the Caribbean region, for both the region and Kinesis.
Congatulations to Thomas and the Kinesis team.
No doubt the experience and depth gained through the Indonesian launch by the Kinesis team would have been benifical.
Congrats.

Is there any footage of the event that isn't on Facebook? Not a member of fb and can't access it
It seemed to play for me without logging in/creating an account.
I retested that on Edge, which is a browser that I don't normally use.

I just closed the login/create account window and could then play the video.

Thanks. It's more to do with the cookies etc. that I have to accept to watch it. I'm a bit awkward when it comes to those things

I'm looking forward to get a clearer picture of the project, as I'm not entirely sure what it's about yet.
I have the impression from Tom's presentation that there's a different technological added value to what we saw in Indonesia but I don't get it yet.

I hope the next quarterly update / vaultside will provide more clarity.

Anyway, the partnership looks great, congratulations.
